The South Bay Literacy Council welcomes anyone (over 18) who needs to improve their English to function more effectively at work or at home. An individual student is expected to consistently meet with their tutor at least once a week for 1 1/2 or 2 hours and to do some homework between sessions. To become a student with SBLC please call the office at 310-373-7003. Non-native English speakers are encouraged to attend one of our four ESL centers, but may be assigned a one-on-one tutor if scheduling requires it. Native English speakers are evaluated and assigned to a small class with 4 students whose reading level and schedules match. Any student waiting for a tutor is encouraged to attend the computer Open Sessions to improve their English. |
